The Witches of Eastwick

They come in different shapes and sizes, and they smell differently, and they all have different ways of showing their witchcraft slash love (it’s a thin line) but they will always haunt a woman until the moment she becomes one herself and inevitably joins the cult. We call them Mother dearest.

In my case, it’s mothers, as in plural, as in 3 of them. (more…)

Deep as

I guess I’m keen to make a good impression with my first blog post, let you all see how thoughtful and reflective I am- wow, man, that Belle- she’s so deep.

So let me share with you a little something that’s been consuming my thoughts the past week. So many times I’ve be sitting on the back of an ojek and pop- there it goes- the little niggling question at the back of my brain, the confusion, the doubt, me a thinker with my hand rested on my chin.

As a Western woman living in Indonesia, I make new observations every day. In actual fact, I am an Australian woman, of Indian decent, born in a Hindu family, with no religious conviction myself, so I guess my perspective is more than merely a “Westerner’s”.

There are many misperceptions of Islam in the West. Some of those misperceptions, I believe, come about because we are often too afraid to even broach the subject of Islam. (more…)

The other story on training (how to be a lady-killer)

So, I’m the late Tuesday girl who posts her writing on a Wednesday. So sorry.

I’ve been trying to write about my experience in a prominent so-called spiritual training (i.e. brainwash), but, my brain’s not cooperating right now. So, I searched the archive of my old writings and found a funny one. It’s a story about a training as well and there’s brainwashing also!! So, I guess it’s still close to my first idea story. This is Om’bak. One day we will write an About US section, but that requires us to know exactly what we are. Om’bak is a work in progress and we will allow it to evolve. For the moment we are a bunch of women living in Jakarta (demographic likely to change) blogging about what concerns us.
